Xenical
This weight loss aid works to remove the
excess fat that we eat along with our
food. Lipases, which are enzymes in our
stomach, break down the fat and helps
digest it properly. This drug controls the
breakdown of the fat by these enzymes so
that the body doesn’t absorb the fat, but
excretes it along with the digested food.
Xenical is believed to block up to one
third of the fat in the foods we eat so
that it won’t be absorbed by the body. You
cannot take Xenical if you have problems
absorbing food, have gall bladder problems
or if you are pregnant. Also, if you have
kidney problems, it is better to stay away
from Xenical.
One of the side effects of Xenical is that
some fat-soluble vitamins and
beta-carotene may not be absorbed by the
body. So we will need to replace them by
taking supplements containing vitamins
such as Vitamin D, Vitamin K, Vitamin E,
etc. Also, take a multi-vitamin 2 hours
before or after taking Xenical so that it
won’t be wasted.
Xenical may affect blood sugar control if
you are a diabetic. Also, if you are
taking cyclosporine, you may have to be
monitored for any problems. Side effects
of Xenical are gas with discharge, oily
spotting, fatty stools, increased number
of bowel movements and inability to
control bowel movements (oops).
The magical Acai Berry
In the race to a wonderful weight loss
aid, people are willing to try anything.
One of the latest entrants to this race is
a small, previously unknown little berry
form the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. In
his book “The Perricone Promise”, Dr
Nicholas Perricone has called this tiny
little berry as the “Number one super
food” in the world.
Acai Berry is touted to boost metabolism,
aid digestion, build muscle tone, increase
energy and stamina as well as (you guessed
it) aid in weight loss! So the whole
world, which has suddenly woken up to the
magical miracles of this tiny berry, just
cannot get enough of it! Email spam
folders are overflowing with ways in which
we can use the Acai berry. One can imagine
the entire Amazon forest crawling with
internet Acai berry enthusiasts
frantically packing the berries into their
backpacks dreaming of the millions they
are going to make selling it!
